Thanks! It's either feast or famine, though. Had a nice visit with a captain from the security folks to pass the time. And I mean that sincerely, we shot the breeze for a bit in good humor.

Thanks! Here's a shot showing the flaps. I couldn't see the starboard side, but noticed that there were no obvious exterior sensors of the port side or the wings such as what they carried during the polar flights.

nice shot of that DC-8..i didnt think those things were flying anymore...when did you get that shot, is this one plane that comes to PMD often?

It's based at the new Dryden facility at PMD, along with the SOFIA 747SP

ED's C-17 and a T-39D from VX-31 over at China Lake were in the pattern today.

I'm wondering if they're getting it ready for another science mission. I've got to drop Gray Creech a note, I'll ask him about it.

Jim, I heard back from Gray over at Dryden: "the DC-8 is flying some science instrument checkout flights in preparation for a deployment to South America in Oct. There are no media events planned at the moment."
