Very cool 8) We need more of them ;)

Not sure how effective they are, but love to watch them. This should be a standard fly by and water drop at air shows <angel>

BTW that looks new ;D
Pic was from Oct 08. Not sure of the operational status. I had heard a rumor (so don't take it as any more than that!) that CA only contracted them for one this season. I'll try to find out something more definitive.

California actually just cancelled the contract 2 weeks ago due to budget problems. Everything is getting cut right now...

They can still call for the -10s on an as needed basis (which costs more money) for a fire, but the contract is over. At least for now. :(

What was that the Governator said? "We'll spare no expense in fighting fires?"

Maybe Tanker 10 doesn't take IOU's....  And yes I think it was, but we just pay more expense to save homes.

Had a little excitement down in my neighborhood yesterday when a propane tank exploded.  SD Fire air attack was called in to help prevent the spread of the blaze to nearby canyons.  Pretty impressive flying by those pilots!

If you want to see more (Including the guy who was taken down by the cops for not leaving the LZ), check them out on my site herehttp://www.socalaviation.net/Fire_in_the_Neighborhood_.html
