For anybody in the San Diego area, the San Diego CAF group is hosting Flydays this Friday at Gillespie Field.  They actually occur on the first Friday of each month from 4-8pm.  It is Free to go, and you can buy food and beer, and they have live bands.  They also always have some warbirds that you can walk around.  In addition their SNJ-5 "Sassy" is aviable for flights (last year it was only $150 for a 20 minute flight).

This month will feature Chuck Hall and his P-51 Six-Shooter.

Just park at the base of the control tower.

Yeah they are a lot of fun.  They've had Sterman, Trojans, PT-19s, L-39s.  One time they even pulled the Catalina over.  You never know what you're going to get, but the lighting is always great, and most owners are ok with you climbing up and taking a look in the cockpit.
