Youngsters aged 8 to 17 can fly free with
EAA Young Eagles at Wings Wheels & Rotors 2014

Are you between the ages of 8 and 17— and dream of flying?
Are you a parent or teacher of such a dreamer?
Young dreamers (and a parent!) should be first in line at the entrance gate to Wings, Wheels, Rotors & Expo
to fulfill their dream by flying free — yes, at no cost! — courtesy of pilots in the Young Eagles program.
Two local chapters of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will provide pilots and planes to take
young dreamers aloft (with a signed form granting permission from a parent or guardian on site).
All day on Sunday, 26 October, EAA pilots will provide rides and answer questions as part of the
EAA's Young Eagles program during WWRE 2014 at Los Alamitos Army Airfield.
The EAA Young Eagles were launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8-17,
an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane, like Cessnas, Pipers, and other light aircraft.
All participants must have parental approval and everyone will need a signed authorization to fly.
EAA pilots will brief youngsters prior to the flight, show them around the aircraft, and help buckle them in safely.
During the fifteen to twenty minute flight, the pilots are happy to answer questions and provide explanations
about aircraft operation and capabilities, pilot training, and how to get started on the path to becoming a pilot.
Each young flyer will receive an official Young Eagles log book, signed by the EAA pilot.
Young Eagle flights will be available from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., depending on weather conditions.
(If fog rolls in, flights may have to be curtailed at the discretion of the JFTB air boss.)
