Tour of Hercules Campus, Former Headquarters of Hughes Aviation

If you have any interest in aviation, industrial history, or the legacy of Howard Hughes, don't miss this unprecedented event!

The L.A. Conservancy is thrilled to offer a one-time-only sneak peek at the former headquarters of Hughes Aircraft. It was here that Howard Hughes and his team designed and built planes, helicopters, satellites, lasers, and most famously, the H-4 Hercules heavy transport craft, more commonly known as the "Spruce Goose."

The site is now known as the Hercules Campus, and it has rarely been open to the public. During World War II, its airfield rarely even appeared on maps. While the Spruce Goose is now housed in Oregon, eleven of the original campus buildings remain on the now twenty-eight-acre site.

Looking North, this corner is believed to be where Mr Hughes had his office (had view of runway).  Previous development company thought space would be more marketable if it was stripped.  So they stripped interior office layout that was deemed historic......

Map that was found under paneling and was saved by a construction worker from previous developement company.  Same guy saved a few offices in the south east corner of building as well.
