Spent a few evenings at LCY Airport last week trying to get some nice sunset shots in between the nasty rainy days so timed things just about right. The biggest problem at sunset is you have to be so so lucky to get something worthwhile as you have to wait patiently for the sun to be just right as it drops, but with traffic only a few every 4 or 5 minutes the sun rapidy drops away and sometimes you get no aircraft when the light is at its best-very frustrating!

LCY Airport only has the one runway and in between landings aircraft will fast backtrack often whilst stuff is on approach, sometimes an aircraft will line-up and wait whilst 2 or 3 backtrack and turn off at a small holding point to await their turn...great to watch during the mad rush at around 5pm! If anyone ever visits and wants info on car parking for photography (which is terrible if you don't know the area!) then drop me a note.

NB: The shot of the 146 landing with smoking tyres has the tail and buildings all distorted in a combination of vortices and engine heat haze...very strange!

Cheers
