Skip, Sorry I don't know the delivery date. If I hear, though, I'll let you know. That scheme was a left-over from another Air Methods program (I forget which one it came from...maybe AirLife in TX?). Actually, the Mercy scheme (which was pre-Air Methods days) was subsequently adopted for the Life Net program, and then adopted as the standard Air Methods scheme. Actually, I'm a bit surprised that 778 didn't get painted before it came out to us.

Thanks Alan.......it does look like the Texas Air-Life Scheme.

Another Mojave oddball...this Gippsland GA-8 is registered to L' Avion, the partnership between Flight Research and Gippsland that resulted in a number of the Airvans going through final assembly at Mojave rather than Australia prior to getting delivered to the Civil Air Patrol (Nadia Roberts of FRI is Canadian, hence the maple leaf on the tail).

Alan
Is that S-55 still at TPS ?

And does it ever fly ?

Hi Skip,
Yup, in fact, it was out doing engine runs the other day. AFAIK, it's only flown twice since being rebuilt after the engine fire. I'll try to dig out a pic or two tomorrow.

What do they use that old dog for.......how can it even hover during the summer up there ?

It could hardly hover down in LA on a warm day.

They use their wide variety of helos for training flight test pilots and flight test engineers on how to take data. The more unusual the aircraft, the better, to give the students a "challenge". Here's one from last July.

The first 3 of 5 F-16s for Calspans new flight test program arrived today. Here's a couple of shots, more soon on my blog.

Looks like a lot of fun out there. I see lots of DC-10's and that silver 747 rocks  <rocker>

But it looks like they are missing some parts.

Everything over in that section of the airport is part-out / scrap. Unofficial name is the "boneyard".

A few more from a mx flight today...first was a mile final to Taxiway Charlie (helicopters are so much more fun...don't have to mess with those silly runways!). The other two are the new 1st Mojave Fighter Squadron. Ok, just kidding, they're the Calspan F-16s.
